Eco-Reading Program
The Eco-Reading Program is designed to encourage students to learn more about the environment and ecology. To participate, students read books marked with a green star. After reading the book, the student completes a bookmark book report and shares it with their class. These bookmarks are hung on our Eco-Reading Tree, and the student's name is entered into a monthly drawing. Encourage your child to participate in this fun and educational program and help St. Mary's remain the Top Green School in Macomb County.
Accelerated Reader
Students in grades 3-8 participate in the Accelerated Reader program. This program encourages recreational reading and helps teachers track students' progress in reading comprehension. Students read books on their own and then take computerized tests about those books. If the student passes, he or she earns AR points. Each homeroom teacher keeps track of these points and incorporates them into their class's reading grades.
Birthday Book Club
Have you ever been looking for something to read and thought the library should really have a copy of particular book? Here’s your chance to make that happen! On your birthday, donate a new book of your choice to the library. Your name will be put inside the book so that everyone will know you gave it to the library! So start thinking today because your birthday will be here before you know it! (Already had your birthday, don’t worry, you can still join the club!)
